2018 – An end of year summary

It’s the most wonderful time of the year again and an opportunity to reminisce over events of the year. Well then, where to start?

2018 has certainly delivered some lovely moments that the entire nation has seemingly supported. “It” didn’t come home in the end but what a great job Gareth Southgate and his young squad did at the football World Cup restoring much needed pride and passion into our national game. Windsor Castle was again the showpiece for the wedding of the year, Prince Harry finding his Princess in Megan Markle and who can forget the quite magnificent summer,  which seemed to last forever although a distant memory now….

Perhaps the most poignant memory from 2018 should be the marking of the 100 year anniversary of the ending of World War I and the remembering of the countless lives that were lost. It’s a very evocative subject which will continue to be honoured.

The continuing Brexit saga has delivered another topsy-turvy political year causing much uncertainty, Carillion went bust, House of Fraser escaped closure, the Bank of England raised the base rate to 0.75%, the highest level since 2009, yet a record salary was announced for the owner of an online gambling firm…….Maybe gambling does pay!

We hope you have had a successful 2018 and achieved all of your objectives for the year, we have enjoyed working with you and we look forward to doing the same in 2019.

Boxall Brown & Jones have enjoyed another busy year dealing in residential sales and lettings and whilst it is obvious to say the market has not been at its busiest, we have still managed to perform admirably continuing to offer a high level of service as demonstrated by ‘Excellent’ rating on Trust Pilot.

We have also added an online auction platform to our list of residential services. This modern method of auction selling is far more inclusive attracting buyers requiring finance and with minimal costs for sellers.  The BB&J Commercial and Survey teams have had another strong year successfully completing many deals.   Graham Bancroft, Partner in the business,  was awarded “Dealmaker of the Year” by Estates Gazette with BB&J Commercial being the third most active agency within Derbyshire.

Thoughts will no doubt now be turning towards Christmas festivities, office parties and nights out ahead of Santa’s arrival.

We wish you a very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
