Running to Transform Young Lives – Partner at BB&J Set to Raise Money for Safe & Sound

Boxall Brown and Jones Partner Anthony Lomas and long time friend Mark Wallace (from Reach) have partnered up to raise money for the local Derby charity, Safe & Sound.

On October 3 2021, Anthony Lomas and Mark Wallace will be taking part in the Virtual London Marathon to raise money for Safe & Sound, a charity based in Derby.

Safe & Sound is a charity that supports young people at risk of exploitation. Any young person is at risk of being exploited. Many abusers do not discriminate based on ethnicity, social background or where they live, which is a large reason why this charity was chosen.

Safe & Sound provide vital support to children across Derbyshire who are at risk of being exploited, helping them back to a place of safety and dignity with dedicated 1-2-1 work that lowers their risk and transforms their future.

By taking part in the Virtual London Marathon, Anthony and Mark not only hope to raise £500 for the local cause, but they also hope to raise awareness about current issues that has heightened in recent months and needs more recognition.

Mark Wallace commented “whilst running a marathon at a decent pace is not the most enjoyable pastime I’ve experienced, I am looking forward to doing the distance with my best mate Ant, enjoying the route, raising money for a great local charity and earning a cold beer or 2 at the finish!”

Anthony Lomas added “taking on a challenge such as this, whilst inevitably difficult, is made somewhat easier knowing it is for such a brilliant local charity. Training is going well, and we are on course to be well prepared come October 3rd where we plan to run from Chatsworth to Darley Abbey Mills, where Safe and Sound are based.”

Mark Richardson, Trustee at Safe & Sound said “I am very pleased to hear that Anthony and Mark have chosen to support Safe & Sound when running the Virtual London Marathon later this year. It is important that the local business community work together to raise the charity’s profile and increase its fundraising capacity to help more of those whose lives are affected by exploitation and need support. I hope that many people donate to raise money for a brilliant cause.”
