Alvaston Park is situated to the South, about 2 miles from the city centre.
The park lies adjacent to the River Derwent and from here you can walk or cycle along the riverside path, North West to the city centre or South East to the beautiful Elvaston Country Park. There are also routes to the South leading to Chellaston, Swarkestone and Melbourne.
Within the park there are many football pitches used by teams of all ages, a National Standard BMX Track and an attractive fishing lake with surrounding path. The Waterside Cafe is a popular stop for a coffee break. Alvaston Park is now also home to Derby’s second Parkrun event, a free weekly timed 5km run.
Alvaston Park, easily accessed from the main London Road entrance in Alvaston also has pedestrian access from Wilmorton and City Point, a modern housing development consisting of apartments, starter homes and large detached family residences frequently for sale and rent neighbouring the Pride Park area of Derby.
