Duffield is situated 5 miles North of Derby, on the A6 trunk road, just South of the famous Peak District National Park. As you enter the village from the South, the imposing building on the left is Duffield Hall.
Earlier this century, it was used as a boarding school for girls and even had its own outdoor swimming pool in the grounds, which was fed from a nearby stream.
The building was left derelict for some time until, in 1975-58 it was completely renovated and now forms part of a six-acre site, which is the headquarters of the Derbyshire Building Society. The village itself contains all the modern amenities you would expect in villages of the new millennium.
