Elvaston has a quiet village feel but with close proximity to both Derby and Nottingham, it provides the best of both worlds.
The parish of Elvaston contains three small villages, Ambaston, Elvaston and Thulston. Elvaston is home to the Elvaston Castle estate. The castle it’s self is in the style of gothic revival with parts of the estate dating back to the 13th century. The surrounding parkland is run and owned by Derbyshire County Council as a country park known as Elvaston Castle Country Park. The country park has 200 acres of woodlands, parkland and formal gardens. The grounds were restored between 1968-1970 and have been open to the public ever since
