Summer Crafts at Denby – From 24th July

Visit the Denby Craft Studio every day throughout the summer holidays for their children’s creative crafts. Each week they will be crafting something new for your child to take home and keep.

Week1: Summer Baseball Caps
Sat 22th July – Sat 29th July
This week, they’ll be decorating Summer Baseball Caps using bright fabric crayons and colourful gems.

Week 2: Sock Animals
Sun 30th July – Sat 5th August
It’s time to get creative as you’ll be sewing and personalising cute sock animals. They make for a nice little summer keepsake to display at home.

Week 3: Make a summer mobile
Sun 6th Aug – Sat 12th Aug
Create a decorative mobile to display at home using a wooden hoop and adorn it with pre-cut colourful cardboard butterflies, flowers and beads.

Week 4: Create your own Aquarium
Sun 13th Aug – Sat 19th Aug
This week, you’ll be making a mini glass aquarium complete with paper fish, coloured gravel and paper plants to display at home.

Week 5: Clay Week
Sun 20th Aug – Sat 26th Aug
It’s time to get their hands dirty with Denby clay. With experienced Potters, have a go at making a textured tray, a pinch pot or a 3D whale or bee to take away and air dry at home.

Week 6: Design a pencil case
Sun 27th Aug – Sun 3rd Sept
Let their imagination run free as they design their own pencil case ready for going ‘back to school’ using colourful fabric crayons and decorative craft accessories.

Bluebell’s Big Summer – From 24th July

Explore their adventurous activities like the maize maze, foam party and creepy bug shows! Indulge in their award-winning ice cream and enjoy getting to know the animals with their extensive animal activity timetable!

Once you’ve met them, you can hop aboard their tractor and trailer for a cow safari! With lots of different activities to choose from, there’s something for everyone!

Seaside without the Sea – Heights of Abraham – From 24th July

Visit the seaside this summer without needing to head to the coast! Grab a bucket and spade, find a deckchair and enjoy the British seaside at the top of the Heights of Abraham. With live music, a children’s challenge, a giant sandpit and of course the return of the Punch and Judy show, it’s set to be a great event for all the family!

Learn to Ride at Derby Arena– From 24th July

The hugely popular Learn to Ride sessions are for children 5+ who are new to 2 wheels or have not quite mastered it… 50 minute sessions, 1:1, with their qualified trainers. Book quickly to avoid disappointment!

Own bike preferred but not essential.

Track days at Derby Arena – Aged 9-16 – 1st, 15th and 23rd August

Their track days are a combination of outdoor skills and indoor track riding, suitable for children 9-16 years.

Chatsworth Young Farmers – From 25th July

Spend a summer afternoon helping the farmyard team with their daily jobs, from collecting eggs to grooming the animals. 

Children and adults can spend a summer afternoon mucking in with the daily jobs in the Chatsworth Farmyard. You could be helping to collect eggs from broody hens, milking goats, cuddling guinea pigs, feeding the pigs, or grooming one of our Shetland ponies. This is a great opportunity for hands-on involvement in caring for farm animals and learning a lot about life on a working farm in the process.

This event is suitable for children aged between 7 and 16. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Markeaton Outdoor Cinema – Bridesmaids (15) – 9pm on 28th July

Relieve the hilarious comedy Bridesmaids in the unique setting of Markeaton Park. So grab your friends and your popcorn, and don’t miss out this comedy classic.

Thirty-something Annie (Kristen Wiig) has hit a rough patch but finds her life turned completely upside down when she takes on the Maid of Honour role in her best friend wedding. Annie leads a hilarious hodgepodge of bridesmaids on a wild ride down the road to the big event.

Top Gun Maverick (12a) – 9pm on 29th July

Grab your friends and some popcorn and settle down to a unique cinema experience, with this long awaited sequel, Top Gun: Maverick

After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) finds himself training a detachment of TOP GUN graduates for a specialised mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen.

Inflatable Fun Family Days – Derby Rugby Club – 5th and 6th August

Bringing the UK’s largest inflatable outdoor play area to Derby this summer holidays!

Pay at the gate event only!

The age range for this event is 2-12, strictly no adults on the inflatables. This is an outdoor event so weather permitting. Accompanying adults and car parking are free. Total wipeout and bungee trampolines are at an additional cost.

Summer Garden Party – The Farmhouse Mackworth – 12th August

Join us for our annual summer garden party held in the Folly and the grounds. Some seating will be provided but feel free to bring a deck chair or a blanket. Giant inflatable, rodeo bull, gladiator battle, soft play, food trucks, pop up bars, live music and DJ.

Outdoor Cinema – Mammia Mia (PG) – Hardwick Hall – 19th August

An amazing outdoor cinema experience in the stunning grounds of Hardwick Hall near Chesterfield with a showing of Mamma Mia! The story of a bride-to-be trying to find her real father told using hit songs from everyone’s favourite Swedish pop group, ABBA! Plus music from the 70s & 80s to enjoy before the film, with a soundtrack of disco and party classics.

Gates open 6pm, film starts at 8pm

Bring a blanket or camping chair and watch Mamma Mia on a giant cinema screen under the stars!
