Etwall is a pleasant village 6 miles W.S.W. from Derby, situated on the road leading from Derby to Uttoxeter, in Staffordshire.
‘Eatta’s well’, which gave the Etwall its name, is almost certainly the well that still survives near the parish church in the village centre. There are over 60 wells in the village, and Well Dressing is now the biggest public event in the village calendar, occupying three days in mid-May. The small and friendly village is home to lots of feature properties which echo the age of the area, a popular primary school as well as local businesses and facilities.
