On Saturday 6th May 2023 the UK, along with the rest of the world, celebrates The Coronation of King Charles III. Here’s how you can join the celebrations in Derbyshire this weekend!
The Kedleston Country House
Friday 5th May
From 6pm – See some stunning cars meeting in the garden. Take your own classic, vintage, modern, old timer or supercar – or simply park up and admire everyone else’s! Food & drink available, with an outdoor bar too.
Saturday 6th May
From 10am – Enjoy a delicious Champagne Breakfast
From 12pm – Enjoy British Afternoon Tea
From 5pm – Brit Pop Garden Party – Live music, food and drink in the gardens.
Sunday 7th May
From 12pm – Live music, food and drink in the gardens until 6pm, or enjoy a Sunday Roast inside.
Monday 8th May
12pm – 6pm – Enjoy your bank holiday with food and drinks being served in the gardens.
Arts and Crafts
Design and paint your very own Royal Crown Derby plate to celebrate the Coronation.
Explore your own design ideas and paint them on a lovely porcelain plate to take home and bake.
All materials are provided, and expert artists will guide you through the process to unleash your inner artist.

Celebrate the King’s Coronation at the Denby Craft Studio for some fun and Royal-themed craft sessions. Choose from one of the following activities on the day:
1. Create a King’s Coronation Keepsake by hand-painting your own Royal design onto one of our Denby tea plates.
2. Be a King or Queen for the day and decorate your own crown with eye-catching jewels to take home on the day.
3. Create your own Coronation spoonie character from a wooden spoon, colourful paints and decorative craft accessories.

*Your hand-painted Denby Tea Plate will be fired in our kilns to collect at a later date.
A Royal Afternoon Tea
Celebrate the King’s Coronation with a delicious Royal Afternoon Tea – it makes an ideal family treat and includes a few of the King’s favourites.
£15.95 per adult
Presented on a beautiful three-tiered Denby Porcelain cake stand and includes:
A selection of freshly prepared sandwiches, a freshly baked scone served with English butter, clotted cream & strawberry jam and a choice of homemade cake: Traditional Victoria Sponge Cake, Chocolate Cake or Fruit Cake as well as Macarons and a fresh fruit garnish.
All served with your choice of drink: Choose from bottomless Americano coffee or Breakfast tea.

Presented on our beautiful Denby Porcelain ceramics and includes:
A selection of freshly prepared sandwiches, royal sweet treats Mini Victoria Sponge cake and freshly baked brownie as well as a mini fruit skewer.

Chatsworth
Saturday 6 May
Spend the morning watching the Coronation Service which will be streamed in the Carriage House Café. Celebrations will continue into the afternoon with live music in the Rose Garden, Coronation-themed crafts and activities for families in the farmyard, freshly-baked afternoon teas and picnics filled with sweet and savoury treats.
Sunday 7 May
Share food and fun with friends and family by taking part in the Coronation Big Lunch. Pre-order a picnic to enjoy by the river in the park or in the Chatsworth Garden, where there’ll be live music and entertainment. In the Stables there will luxurious Coronation-themed afternoon teas, and a special menu in the Carriage House.
Monday 8 May
As part of the Big Help Out, they will be celebrating our wonderful Chatsworth volunteers. Members of our team will be on Lodge Hill, in front of the stables, explaining how you can get involved with volunteering for Chatsworth House Trust, the registered charity that looks after the house, garden, collections and parkland.
Derby Cathedral Live Stream
Join on Saturday 6th May and watch the Coronation of King Charles III live on the big screen, inside the beautiful setting of Derby Cathedral.
Doors will open at 09:00 there will be light refreshments available as well as activities for children throughout the day.
