The suburb of Mackworth lies off the busy A52 Derby to Ashbourne road and has little connection with the village, which bears the same name on the opposite side of the A52.
The suburb is a rather featureless housing estate with several pockets of shops and amenities. Mackworth college of Further Education is situated here on the site of a former girl’s grammar school. The estate has close proximity to Markeaton Park and nearby countryside.
Mackworth Village is situated in a quiet lane and consists of a few cottages, farms, and a church.
