Belper is a busy Market Town, steeped in history dating back from 13th Century when it was called Beaurepaire (Beautiful Retreat). Renowned for its early nailmaking industry in the 14th Century and later became one of the earliest Mill towns and it forms an important link in the World Heritage Corridor between Matlock and Derby. The town enjoys a wealth of character and charm, being surrounded by beautiful countryside with the River Derwent flowing through. There are excellent schools, independent shopping many bars, restaurants, and gastro pubs and leisure facilities. Conveniently located within easy reach of major road links ie A6, A38 and M1, whilst providing the gateway to the stunning Peak District.
