Belper is a busy Market Town, steeped in history dating back from 13th Century when it was called Beaurepaire (Beautiful Retreat).
Renowned for its early nail making industry in the 14th Century and later became one of the earliest Mill towns forming an important link in the World Heritage Corridor between Matlock and Derby.
The town enjoys a wealth of character and charm surrounded by the beautiful countryside that follows this section of the Derwent River. Belper’s high street is thriving with independent shops, bar and restaurants to cater for all tastes. Belper scooped the Champion High Street Award for England at the Great British High Street Awards in 2019.
There are also excellent schools and leisure facilities. Conveniently located within easy reach of major road links ie A6, A38 and M1 making it a great base for commuting within the East Midlands.
